PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To elongate service life of a wire saw when cutting a rare earth alloy by using coolant mainly composed of water in a wire saw device. SOLUTION : The wire saw 20 with abrasive grain 24 fixed on a core wire 22 by a resin layer 26 is used in the cutting process for the rare earth alloy. It includes a process of cutting the rare earth alloy by moving the wire saw in a state with a portion of the rare earth alloy to be cut by the wire saw is dipped in the coolant mainly composed of water with surface tension at 25°C within a range of 25 mN/m-60 mN/m.
