PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To flatten the distribution of magnetic flux density in the center axis direction of a magnet roller. SOLUTION : A magnet block 33A formed of a rare earth magnet and having a highly magnetic force is disposed in an accommodating groove 32a formed in the peripheral part of the magnet roller 32A, which corresponds to the developing pole P1 of the magnet roller 40A. In this case, the magnet block 33A is formed so that the characteristic that is almost opposite to that of the distribution of the magnetic flux density of the magnet roller 32A in the direction of the center axis 31 in the accommodating groove 32a of the magnet roller 32A is exhibited in the lengthwise direction of the magnet block 33A. Specifically, the magnet block 33A is concaved such that both the lengthwise ends 33a and 33b of the magnet block 33A project more than its lengthwise middle section in the widthwise direction of the magnet block 33A and the cross sectional area of each of the lengthwise ends of the magnet block 33A is larger than that of the middle section.
