PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing carbon nanotubes and a catalyst for manufacturing the same, which can manufacture high-quality carbon nanotubes with simple equipment, which can be easily scaled up, at low costs and in a high yield.
SOLUTION : The carbon nanotubes are manufactured by bringing a carbon-containing gas and hydrogen gas into contact with the catalyst comprising a compound oxide represented by general formula ABO3 (wherein A is at least one sort of element selected from among rare earth elements and alkaline earth metals; B is at least one sort of element selected from among transition elements excluding rare earth elements and Al) on heating.
