PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas of which the cleaning performance and the heat-resisting performance are improved compared with conventional techniques by highly dispersing materials to be carried onto a carrier. SOLUTION : The catalyst is provided with alumina, a perovskite-type oxide carried by the alumina and expressed by LnAlO3 (Ln is a rare earth metal), and a noble metal carried on the oxide, and is made by a method through a process of allowing a solution containing catalyst components to penetrate into the pores of the alumina and fixing them to pore walls; and the perovskite-type oxide has a specific surface area of 5 m2/g or more.
