DEVELOPMENT FOR AGRICULTURAL BED SOIL USING THE SEAWEEDS BY-PRODUCT

PURPOSE : A method of manufacturing agricultural bed soil for raising seedling by addition of marine algae powder or by-products produced during the production, processing and distribution of marine algae is provided. The method reduces pollution load of coastal environment and improves soil environment. CONSTITUTION : To make the titled agricultural bed soil having moisture contents of less than 30%, 20 to 80% by weight of marine algae powder with a size of 0.01 to 50mm is mixed with 80 to 20% by weight of one or more of coconut coir pith, peat moss, bark, rice bran, carbonized rice hulls and leaf mold and then added with 10 to 60% by weight of one or more of vermiculite, perlite, zeolite and diatomaceous earth. The mixture is fermented in a fermenter for 3 weeks. The seaweeds are Chlorophyta, Phaeophyta and Rhodophyceae. © KIPO 2006
