A thermoelectric conversion element in which lowering of conversion efficiency due to uneven semiconductor characteristics is eliminated and lowering of adhesion strength between each element and an electrode due to difference in thermal expansion coefficient among thermoelectric conversion elements is prevented. Furthermore, thermoelectric conversion efficiency is enhanced by contriving the structure of a unit element. Unit elements (13) comprising the same type of semiconductor composed of a sintered cell containing an oxide of a metal element, an oxide of a rare earth element and manganese are arranged on the substrates (5, 12) of a thermoelectric conversion element (10), a thin film electrode is fixed to the cooling surface and the heating surface to be integrated with the sintered cell, and lead wires (16) are connected in series on these surfaces.
