PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an automatic irrigation method effective even in a place poor in water resource at a dry land such as a desert, finding extreme water condition without directly measuring the water potential of plants, and automatically determining a timing for irrigation with no manual operations to automatically perform irrigation. SOLUTION : The automatic irrigation method comprises measuring at least either of electric impedance of a plant tissue of a plant rooted in the earth, grounding at least either one of impedance between the earth and the roots of the plant, and capacitance at the site of the plant so as to detect water condition and perform irrigation correspondingly to the detected water condition.
