PURPOSE : A photomagnetic disk is provided to transmit a small recording mark to a reproduction layer by using a mask layer, and to cut off an exchange coupling with the recording layer during a reproduction process, to amplify a reproduction signal, thereby recording/reproducing the signal at high density. CONSTITUTION : A reflection prevention layer(51) is formed on a substrate(50) as a dielectric made of Si3N4. A reproduction layer(52) is made of GdFeCo. A mask layer(53) is made of a material. A recording layer(54) is made of TbFeCo. A protective layer(55) is made of SiN4 dielectric. A reflective layer(56) is made of AlTi. A UV lacquer layer(57) is made of a protective layer. The mask layer(53) is formed by adding at least one element of Si, Ti, Cr, Mn, Mo, W, B, C, Al, P, S, Ga, Ge, As, Se, Te, Sb, Sn, In, and Bi to a rare earth-transition alloy by an atomic ratio of 0.1 to 20%.
