PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide steel for a solid oxide type fuel cell separator on which an oxide film having satisfactory electrical conductivity at about 750 to 1, 000°C is formed, and which stably has satisfactory oxidation resistance and peeling resistance of the oxide film even in long time heating.
SOLUTION : The steel for a solid oxide type fuel cell separator has a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.2% C, ≤1.0% (exclusive of 0%) Si, ≤1.0% (exclusive of 0%) Mn, ≤2% Ni, 15 to 30% Cr, >0.3 to 3.0% Cu, Ni/Cu : ≥0.2 and ≤0.5% Al, comprising one or more kinds selected from ≤0.5% Y, ≤0.2% rare earth elements (REM) and ≤1% Zr, and the balance substantially Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which, as inevitable impurities, the content of S is limited to ≤0.015%, O to ≤0.010%, N to ≤0.050% and B to ≤0.0050% (inclusive of 0%).
