Electrode and its manufacturing method using rare earth element

PURPOSE : Provided is a complex oxide electrode using a rare earth metal, which has low over-voltage and high durability. A method for producing the complex oxide electrode is also provided. CONSTITUTION : The complex oxide electrode is produced by the method comprising the steps of : coating a solution essentially comprising ruthenium(Ru), and optionally containing iridium(Ir), tin(Sn), titanium(Ti), zinc(Zn) or zirconium(Zr) to a conductive substrate and then heat treating the coated substrate to form a binary or ternary complex metal oxide electrode. The method is characterized in that the coating solution further comprises a rare earth metal selected from the group consisting of terbium(Tb), dysprosium(Dy), holmium(Ho), erbium(Er), thulium(Tm), ytterbium(Yb) and lutetium(Lu), in the amount of 0.5 to 2 wt% based on 100 wt% of the total content of the metals in the coating solution.
