PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a white light-emitting device using a fluorophor which is excited with an excitation light source emitting light in a range of from near ultraviolet light to visible light and has emitted light colors from a green color system to a yellow color system whose wavelengths are converted. SOLUTION : This white light-emitting device which uses a light-emitting element excited at 400 nm and has a fluorophor converting the wavelengths of light emitted from the light-emitting element, wherein the fluorophor comprises an oxynitride fluorophor represented by the general formula : LXMYOZN((2/3)X+(4/3)Y-(2/3)Y-(2/3)Z) : R (L is at least one group II element selected from the group consisting of Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, and Zn; M is at least one group IV element selected from the group consisting of C, Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr, and Hf; O is an oxygen element; N is a nitrogen element; R is a rare earth element; 0.5
