PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an R-T-B-based sintered magnet that can obtain a high coercive force even when the oxygen content of its sintered body is low and, at the same time, has a wide sintering temperature range.
SOLUTION : The R-T-B-based sintered magnet is composed of the sintered body which is provided with main-phase crystal grains composed of an R2T14B phase (wherein, R is one, two, or more kinds of elements selected from among rare-earth elements, and T is one, two, or more kinds of elements selected from among transition metal elements containing Fe or Fe and Co) and a crystal boundary phase containing more R than the main-phase crystal grains do and contains Ta in the main-phase crystal grains. It is desirable that the Ta exists in the main-phase crystal grains as a Ta-Fe compound.
