PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method and apparatus for thickening and recovering rare earths and alkaline earth elements by an electrophoretic method from resources containing at least one kind of their elements by using an ordinary temperature molten salt which is a new reaction medium oriented for environmentally friendly green chemistry as a solvent. SOLUTION : The method for thickening and recovering the rare earths and the alkaline earth elements by the electrophoretic method uses the ordinary temperature molten salt and has a permeation section (PF) which is arranged in parallel within an ordinary temperature molten salt bath (B) housing the ordinary temperature molten salt (MB), is immersed in the ordinary temperature molten salt and is admitted with the ordinary temperature molten salt by permeation, a separation pipe (ST) which is filled with a filler to prevent the diffusion by the convection of the element thickened/separated by the electrophoresis not to be eroded with the ordinary temperature molten salt and is provided with an opening (OP) capable of recovering the ordinary temperature molten salt thickened/separated with the elements by the electrophoresis at an anode (AD) contacting the permeated ordinary temperature molten salt, a cathode (CD) which is arranged in the ordinary temperature molten salt bath acting as a counter electrode of the anode (AD) in the electrophoresis and an electrode (E) which applies an electric field between both the electrodes.
