PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet which is superior in corrosion resistance and can obtain a superior magnetic characteristic and to provide a manufacturing method of the magnet.
SOLUTION : The magnet has a magnet element assembly 11 including a rare earth element and a protection film 12 formed in the magnet element assembly 11. The protection film 12 is composed of a semiconductor and has a Schottky barrier with the magnet element assembly 11. Thus, discharge of electrons from the magnet element assembly 11 is suppressed and corrosion is suppressed. An oxide semiconductor is desirable as the semiconductor constituting the protection film 12, and thickness is desirable to be less than 5 μm.
