PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode with excellent charge and discharge cycle characteristics. SOLUTION : A hydrogen storage alloy is made by solidification from a molten state at a cooling speed of 10 deg.C/s or faster, followed by heat treatment within a temperature range of 600-900 deg.C in vacuum or inert gas atmosphere. Furthermore, a single element or compound of rare earth elements is contained in the hydrogen storage alloy as additive to form a hydrogen storage alloy electrode. This restricts the surface area of the alloy from increasing, prevents the alloy from corrosion, and provides excellent characteristics.
