PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an AC motor capable of reducing eddy current loss generated at a permanent magnet surface, and improving motor efficiency. SOLUTION : In this AC motor 1 having a stator core 4, a stator 2 having a stator coil 6 wound around the stator core 4, a shaft 10 supported at a bracket 8 for supporting the stator 2 through a bearing 9 so as to be rotated freely, and a rotor 3 provided with the rare earth permanent magnet 11 stuck on a surface of the shaft 10, the rare earth permanent magnet 11 is divided into at least two portions in the axial direction to constitute divided permanent magnets 11a, 11b, 11c, 11d, 11e, and bond magnets 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d are disposed between the respective divided permanent magnets.
