PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide aluminum foil for an electrolytic capacitor subjected to satisfactory surface roughening even in d.c. etching and capable of obtaining high electrostatic capacitance, and to provide its production method.
SOLUTION : The aluminum foil comprises 5 to 100 ppm Fe, 5 to 100 ppm Si, 1 to 100 ppm Cu, 0.1 to 5 ppm Pb, 0.1 to 10 ppm rare earth elements and 0.5 to 5 ppm Sn, and the balance Al of ≥99.9% with inevitable impurities. Preferably, the aluminum foil comprises 1 to 20 ppm Zn and 1 to 50 ppm Zr, and in which the total content of Mn, Mg, Cr, Ti, B, V and Ga in the inevitable impurities is controlled to ≤10 ppm. The aluminum foil having the above composition and subjected to final cold rolling is held at 200 to 400°C for 1 to 12 hr and is thereafter held at 500 to 600°C for 4 to 12 hr as final annealing.
