PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp capable of sufficiently shielding not only an ultraviolet ray of 254 nm but also an ultraviolet ray of 313 nm, and hardly causing the degradation of the surface luminance of a backlight unit, and to provide a backlight unit at a low cost.
SOLUTION : This cold-cathode fluorescent lamp 1 is so structured that a phosphor 6 is applied to the inside surface of an arc tube 2; and mercury and a buffering rare gas are enclosed in the arc tube 2. The arc tube 2 is formed of borosilicate glass doped with an ultraviolet absorbent at a composition ratio of 5.1-9.0 wt.%.
