METHOD FOR FABRICATING OPTICAL FIBER OR OPTICAL DEVICE DOPED WITH REDUCED METAL ION AND/OR RARE EART

PURPOSE : A method is provided to fabricate an optical fiber or an optical device doped with a reduced metal ion and/or a rare earth ion using a modified chemical vapor deposition(MCVD), a vapor-phase axial deposition(VAD), and an outside vapor deposition(OVD). CONSTITUTION : According to the method, a partially sintered micro structure is formed on a base material for fabricating an optical fiber or an optical device. The micro structure is soaked into a metal ion and/or rare earth ion doping solution including a reduction agent. The micro structure soaked into the metal ion and/or rare earth ion is dried. And the dried micro structure is heated for sintering. © KIPO 2006
