A reflector 2, and projector display incorporating the reflector (fig. 3), which comprises a main body 17 holding a light source 1, and a reflective layer 18 provided on an internal surface of the main body, where the main body is made of glass comprising SiO2 as a major ingredient and at least one rare-earth element selected from the group consisting of Sc, Y, La, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu. The glass may have a thermal expansion coefficient less than 40 x 10-7/{C and a transition temperature greater than 500 {C. Also disclosed is a projector display where the front glass is made of glass comprising SiO2 as a major ingredient and at least one rare-earth element selected from the group consisting of Sc, Y, La, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu.
