PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To stably obtain in high yield a high-luminance rare earth-activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide stimulable phosphor, and to provide a radiation image transformation panel of high sensitivity and high-quality image using the phosphor. SOLUTION : A method for producing the stimulable phosphor of general formula(1) : Ba1-xM2xFBryI1-y : aM1, bLn, cO is provided, comprising preparing a precursor of this phosphor by a liquid phase method followed by baking the precursor, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of BaF2 particles. In the general formula, M1 is Li, Na, K, Rb or Cs; M2 is Be, Mg, Sr or Ca; Ln is Ce, Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Tm, Dy, Ho, Nd, Er or Yb; 0≤x≤0.3, 0≤y≤0.3, 0≤a≤0.05, 0
