PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing an oxide superconducting wire material maintaining a large critical current density with which the superconducting wire material is originally provided, in a large quantity with high conveying speed. SOLUTION : When forming a superconducting oxide layer on a metal tape by using a vapor deposition method like a laser evaporation method (PLD method), if the tape is conveyed with a speed of not less than 5m/h, and a distance between the tape and a target on which the oxide is to be formed is 100 mm or less, a large critical current density can be obtained. A more preferable result can be obtained in case the superconducting oxide layer is made of rare earth elements, barium, or copper group superconducting oxide (RE123, RE=rare earth element, Y).
