In a treatment process for oils applied to work pieces in a metal-working process the contaminated oil leaving the process is collected and subjected to a treatment process of at least one stage. The treated oil mixture is then tested for suitability for re-use in the metal-working process by at least one visual inspection and/or at least one tribological quality test to determine its characteristics. According to the degree of compliance with specified tribological quality criteria, the treated oil is then either disposed of or is re-used by application in the metal-working process either directly or after an additive dosing stage in which additives are added to the treated oil mixture.Also claimed are a second oil treatment process, and two arrangements for treating oils used in metal-working.
