Rare earth elements integrated microorganism

PURPOSE : To allow a cell body to accumulate rare earth elements, especially yttrium, lanthanum and neodymium in it by culturing a microorganism capable of accumulating rare earth elements and belonging to the genus Comamonas. CONSTITUTION : A microorganism belonging to the genus Comamonas, e.g. Comamonas acidovorans R-2 (FERM P-14491), which is capable of accumulating rare earth elements, is cultured under aerobic conditions. A culture temperature and a medium pH are preferably 20-70 deg.C and 5-9, respectivbely. The microorganism shown above as an example is negative in reducing activity against a nitrate.
