PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a novel metal material useful as a catalyst material and replacing rare transition metals. SOLUTION : There is provided a metal material replacing transition metals, in which a transition metal M is doped with at least one kind selected from a group consisting of boron, lithium, beryllium and carbon, and which has an electron number between the transition metal M and a transition metal M+1 on the right side in the periodic table and can replace the transition metal M+1.
