PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To economically and efficiently coat the surface of an R-T-B series sintered magnet uniformly with a layer of powder particles containing a heavy rare earth element RH for improving HcJ by diffusing the heavy rare earth element RH to the R-T-B series sintered magnet.
SOLUTION : A manufacturing method of an R-T-B series sintered magnet 100 includes a step of preparing an R-T-B series sintered magnet (R is a rare earth element, T is Fe or Fe and Co), a step of preparing diffusion source powder 30 formed of the powder of an alloy or a compound of rare earth element R, a coating step of coating the coating region on the surface of the sintered magnet with an adhesive containing sugar alcohol, an adhesion step of adhering the diffusion source powder 30 to the coating region on the surface of the sintered magnet coated with the adhesive, and a diffusion step of performing heat treatment of a sintered magnet, to which the diffusion source powder 30 is adhering, at the sintering temperature or less and diffusing the elements, contained in the diffusion source powder 30, partially or entirely from the surface of the sintered magnet to the inside.
