PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for decomposing ammonia capable of decomposing ammonia in an ammonia-containing gas at a high conversion rate to obtain a hydrogen-containing gas and having excellent durability.
SOLUTION : There is provided a catalyst which is used for a reaction producing a hydrogen-containing gas by decomposing ammonia in a an ammonia-containing gas, wherein the catalyst contains a catalytically active component and a heat-resistant oxide and contains at least one element A selected from the group consisting of copper, palladium, silver, ruthenium, rhodium and platinum and at least one element B selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt and nickel as the catalytically active component and the heat-resistant oxide contains a composite oxide of at least one element C selected from the group consisting of aluminum, silicon, zirconium and titanium and a rare earth element.
