PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a permanent magnet motor at as low cost as possible by reducing the content of dysprosium in a neodymium rare earth magnet for forming a rotor or keeping the magnet from including dysprosium. SOLUTION : A permanent magnet motor comprises : a rotor using an electromagnetic steel plate and a neodymium rare earth magnet; and a stator using an electromagnetic steel plate. According to a content of dysprosium in the neodymium rare earth magnet included in the rotor, and an iron loss of the electromagnetic steel plates of the rotor and stator, the thickness of the neodymium rare earth magnet of the rotor in a radial direction is determined to be a thickness that never causes the demagnetization of the neodymium rare earth magnet.
