PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To prevent a coating film from being delaminated in the course of a thermal treatment, and to diffuse a desired element from powder particles in a coating film into a rare earth sintered magnet. SOLUTION : A method for manufacturing an R-T-B based sintered magnet according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of : preparing an R-T-B based sintered magnet; forming, on a surface of the R-T-B based sintered magnet, a coating film of a paste including a polymer composition, and a powder mixture arranged by mixing metal powder and metal compound powder; and performing a thermal treatment on the R-T-B based sintered magnet with the coating film formed on the surface to diffuse a metal component in the coating film into the R-T-B based sintered magnet. The polymer composition includes : a base oil including 2, 2, 4-trimethyl-1, 3-pentanediolmonoisobutyrate; a binder; and a coupling agent. SELECTED DRAWING : Figure 1A COPYRIGHT : (C)2017, JPO&INPIT
