PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an epoch-making magnetic work substance for magnetic refrigeration device not using any rare earth element, the magnetic work substance providing a sufficient magneto-caloric effect by making Mn be a major composing element, capable of controlling a Curie point to a room temperature region by composition regulation, attaining a substantial reduction in manufacturing cost, and capable of being widely applied to consumer field, and to provide a magnetic refrigeration device.SOLUTION : The magnetic work substance for magnetic refrigeration device is represented by chemical formula of MnMCB(where, M is an element of one or two or more kinds selected from the group consisting of Sn, Al, Ga, Zn, Cu, Ag and Ni, where -0.2≤x≤0.2, -0.2≤y≤0.2, 0
