The present invention is a superconducting wire including : a wire made of superconducting material and a superconducting stabilization material disposed in contact with the wire. The superconducting stabilization material is made of copper including : one or more additive elements selected from a group consisting of Ca, Sr, Ba and rare earth elements in a total amount of 3 to 400 ppm by mass, and the balance comprising Cu and inevitable impurities, wherein the total amount of the inevitable impurities except O, H, C, N, S as gas components is 5 to 100 ppm by mass in the copper.
