PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electric motor and an electric power steering device capable of reducing an amount of magnet used or reducing a rare earth magnet component of the magnet, and of suppressing torque ripples.SOLUTION : An electric motor includes : a motor rotor 20 including a rotor yoke 22, and a plurality of magnets 23 buried so as to have flux barriers 25 serving as air gaps at both sides in a rotation direction of the rotor yoke 22; and a motor stator 30 including a stator core 31 annularly arranged at the radial outside of the rotor yoke 22 so as to have a predetermined interval, and an excitation coil 37 for exciting the stator core 31. The rotor yoke 22 includes : a salient pole part 27 protruding radially outward from the magnet 23; and a bridge part 26 coupling between the salient pole parts 27 at the radial outside of the flux barrier 25.
