PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide novel xanthene compounds excellent in heat resistance and fastness and a coloring resin composition which enables production of a red color filter using the compounds as a dye.SOLUTION : Xanthene compounds of formula (1) are provided. In the formula (1), Rto Rare independently H or a 1-4C alkyl group; Ris a carboxylic acid ester group; Rto Rare independently H, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a nitro group or a 1-4C alkyl group; and Ris H, a 1-10C alkyl group or a 5-10C aromatic hydrocarbon group.
