PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To efficiently advance burning of PM deposited on a particulate (PM) filter.SOLUTION : A catalyst layer 17 is disposed on an exhaust gas passage wall 15 of a filter that collects PM in exhaust gas. The catalyst layer 17 contains Pd-carried Zr-based complex oxide in which Pd 24 is carried as catalyst metal on Ce-noncontaining Zr-based complex oxide 23 containing Zr and a rare earth element other than Ce.
