PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a peptide which can recover rare earth elements efficiently, to provide a rare earth element recovering material, and to provide a recovering method for rare earth elements. SOLUTION : The invention provides a rare earth element recovering material for use in recovering rare earth elements, the material containing a peptide having a specific amino acid sequence of 12 residues or 6 residues, or a peptide having an amino acid sequence in which one or some amino acids are deleted, substituted, or added; and a method for recovering rare earth elements comprising a step of contacting the rare earth element recovering material to a liquid containing the rare earth elements.
