PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a device and a method which enable a rare earth metal obtained by a molten metal extraction method to be recovered from a container while sticking of the rare earth metal to the container is suppressed.SOLUTION : A rare earth metal recovery device 100 includes : a seal type device casing 101 the inside of which can be vacuumized or can be changed to an argon gas atmosphere; a rare earth metal recovery container 10 that is installed in the device casing, and houses melted Mg-rare earth metal alloy; separation means 40 that is installed in the rare earth metal recovery container, and separates a rare earth magnet residual component after rare earth metal extraction from a Mg-rare earth metal alloy; and heating means 102 that heats the inside of the device casing, a material or an inner wall surface of the rare earth metal recovery container 10 are composed of boron nitride.
