PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an austenite stainless steel excellent in steam oxidation resistance without damaging creep strength. SOLUTION : An austenite stainless steel has a chemical composition containing, by mass%, C : 0.2% or less, Si : 2.0% or less, Mn : 0.1 to 3.0%, Cr : 14 to 22%, Ni : 6 to 34%, Cu : 5% or less, N : 0 to 0.3%, Al : 0.3% or less, Co : 0 to 10%, V : 0 to 1.0%, Ti : 0 to 0.5%, Ca : 0 to 0.02%, Mg : 0 to 0.02%, Zr : 0 to 0.5%, B : 0 to 0.02% and rare earth element : 0 to 0.1% and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and Ni content on a surface of the steel is larger than Ni content.
