In a voltage nonlinear resistive element of zinc oxide, a clamping voltage is lowly suppressed in a high current region. A voltage nonlinear resistance element (10) includes a resistor (14) which includes one laminated body (12) in which a zinc oxide ceramic layer (12a) which is mainly composed of zinc oxide and has a volume resistivity below 1.0 x 10^-2Ω cm and a rare earth metal oxide layer (12b) which is mainly composed of rare earth metal oxide are bonded, and a pair of electrodes (16, 18) which are formed on the resistor (14) to make a conductive path cross the bonding surface of the zinc oxide ceramic layer (12a) and the rare earth metal oxide layer (12b). In the element (10), the clamping voltage is lowly suppressed in the high current region since the zinc oxide ceramic layer (12a) of the laminated body (12) with the low volume resistivity is used in comparison with an existing element.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
