PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth based magnet suppressed in demagnetization rate at high temperature so as to be usable even at a high-temperature environment. SOLUTION : A rare earth based magnet has a microstructure in which, in a cross section of R2T14B main-phase crystal grains, the number density of fine products in the interior 1 (inside) of the crystal grains is larger than that of the fine products in the outer periphery 2 (outside) of the crystal grains. That is, the rare earth based magnet includes R2T14B main-phase crystal grains and grain boundary phases 3 formed between the R2T14B main-phase crystal grains. The R2T14B main-phase crystal grains include a substance where fine products are formed in the crystal grains. In the cross section of the main-phase crystal grains, when 3/4 of a cross-sectional diameter is defined as the interior of the crystal grains and 1/4 is defined as the outer periphery of the crystal grains, the fine products are formed such that the number density in the interior of the crystal grains is larger than that in the outer periphery of the crystal grains.
