Disclosed is a method for separating rare-earth metal particles from a heterogeneous mixture containing rare-earth metals, said method comprising the steps : - comminuting the heterogeneous mixture containing the rare-earth metals to form a particle mixture containing rare-earth metal particles; - carrying out at least one measure to demagnetize the rare-earth metal particles in the particle mixture; and - separating the demagnetized rare-earth metal particles from the particle mixture. The invention also relates to an associated device.
