A method of manufacturing a magnet from material powders made of a R—Fe—N compound that contains a rare earth element as R or material powders made of a Fe—N compound, includes : an oxide film bonding step in which a compact is formed by bonding the material powders to each other by oxide films formed on surfaces of the material powders; and a coating step in which a surface of the compact is covered with a coating film.
