PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an alloy for an R-T-B-based rare earth sintered magnet in which the R-T-B-based magnet of high coercive force is obtained, without making high content of Dy contained in a R-T-B-based alloy.
SOLUTION : The alloy for an R-T-B-based rare earth sintered magnet is characterized by : consisting of rare earth elements R, a transition metal component T comprising Fe as the essential element, a metal element component M comprising one or more metals selected from among Al, Ga and Cu, B and unavoidable impurities; having an R content of 13 to 15 atom%, a B content of 4.5 to 6.2 atom% and an M content of 0.1 to 2.4 atom%, with the balance being T; having a content of Dy in the rare earth elements of 0 to 65 atom%; and satisfying the following formula (1) 0.0049Dy +0.34≤ B/TRE ≤ 0.0049Dy +0.36 (1), where Dy is the concentration of Dy element (in atom%), B is the concentration of boron element (in atom%), and TRE is the total concentration of rare earth elements (in atom%).
