PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a flaky graphite cast iron that is superior in wear resistance and processability without using a misch metal and the like in particular, and is suitable for use in, for example, an engine part, or the like for an internal combustion engine, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION : The flaky graphite cast iron includes a type-A graphite having such a form that graphite has no orientation and is dispersed randomly and homogeneously, and has a chemical composition of (by mass) C : 2.8 to 4.0%, Si : 1.2 to 3.0%, Mn : 1.1 to 3.0%, P : 0.01 to 0.6%, and S : 0.01 to 0.30%, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, wherein the ratio of the Mn content to the S content (Mn/S ratio) is 3 to 300.
