PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a cutting tool including a coating layer excellent in wear resistance and chipping resistance. SOLUTION : This throw-away insert 1 has a layered structure constituted by alternately laminating, on a surface of a base body 2, two kinds of an A layer 7 and a B layer 8 made of MC1-xNx (where, M means one or more kinds of elements selected among elements in groups 4, 5, 6 in the periodic table, rare earth group elements, Al and Si, and 0.5≤x≤1) and having a cubic crystal structure. As diffraction peaks to be observed as a surface (111) in an X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of a Cu-Kα line in a flank 4, three peaks of a peak of the A layer, an intermediate peak and a peak of the B layer exist from a low angle side of a diffraction angle 2θ.
