PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst that can inhibit coking and suppress deterioration in activities without lowering the yield of acrolein in the manufacture of acrolein by a dehydration reaction of glycerin. SOLUTION : Acrolein is manufactured by a dehydration reaction of glycerin using a catalyst obtained by adding at least one atom (referred to as "atom M") selected from among alkali metal atoms, alkaline earth metal atoms and rare earth metal atoms to crystalline metallosilicate, as a starting material, which is converted into a proton-type one so that the ratio of a counter cation species (referred to as "atom L"), incorporated at the time of synthesis of the crystalline metallosilicate, to an atom T in the crystalline metallosilicate is lowered down to L/TCOPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT
