PURPOSE : Phosphor particles with improved discharging efficiency are provided to have high luminous efficiency because of rare earth elements as luminous center is more uniformly dispersed. CONSTITUTION : Phosphor particles comprise a garnet phase having chemical formula 1 : (A_xB_yC_z)_3C_5O_12, has a shape of spherical polycrystalline secondary particles consisting of many primary particles. The secondary particles have average particle size of 5-50 micron. In chemical formula 1, A is an rare earth element selected from Y, Gd, and Lu, B is at least one rare earth element selected from Ce, Nd, and Tb, C is at least one element selected from Al and Ga, and x, y and z are positive numbers within 0.002 < y Δ 0.2, 0 < z Δ 2/3, and x+y+z = 1.
