PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an oxynitride phosphor which is efficiently excited by near-ultraviolet or visible light, and a method for efficiently producing the oxynitride phosphor.
SOLUTION : The oxynitride phosphor comprises : two or more elements selected from among B, Na, Mg, Al, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Zn, Ga, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Ba, La, Hf and Ta; Si, O, N and a rare earth element as an activation element, and is represented by the chemical formula : (A1-xMx)SiOn-yNy or the chemical formula : (A1-xMx)BSiOm-yNy. In the formulae, the element A is one or more elements selected from among alkali metals and alkaline earth metals; the element M is B, Na, Mg, Al, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Zn, Ga, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Ba, La, Hf or Ta other than the element A; and the element B is a tri- or tetravalent element.
