Provided is a method for the preparation of a high-performance rare earth-iron-cobalt silicide compound having a NaZn13 structure and belonging to the field of materials processing. Specifically, the invention concerns a powder with a granularity of 1μm to 40μm of a master alloy comprising iron-cobalt silicide and a rare earth consisting of main-phase and impurity-phase rare earths in a 1 : 13 proportion, the powder being placed in a mold, and the mold placed in a plasma for low-temperature short sintering, the temperature whereof ranging between 600°C and 1100°C and the time between 2 and 10 minutes. The sintering produces a rare earth-iron-cobalt silicide compound having a NaZn13 structure. The present invention allows preparation of large pieces of a rare earth-iron-cobalt silicide compound having a flexural strength in excess of 110 Mpa, able to withstand pressure in excess of 100N and having even Curie temperature distribution. For use in magnetic refrigeration technology and materials using a rare earth-iron-cobalt silicide compound having a NaZn13 structure.
