PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a game program, a game apparatus and a game controlling method, having a novel difficulty level changing function, and to provide a game program, a game apparatus and a game controlling method, capable of increasing a challenging desire of a skilled player. SOLUTION : The game apparatus 10 includes a CPU (50). The CPU (50) displays a difficulty level setting screen (100) on a second LCD 18 prior to starting of a virtual game. On the difficulty level setting screen (100), a player plays the virtual game to set difficulty level to be higher or lower than an initial value using coins gained by a player character (202). In a case where the difficulty level is higher, the virtual game is more difficult, with higher possibility of gaining a rare item. In a case where the difficulty level is lower, the virtual game is easier, with lower possibility of gaining a rare item.
