PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for efficiently collecting a metal component with a simple method from a material containing highly useful metal component such as a noble metal component and rare metal component, and to provide a metal component collection agent usable in the method. SOLUTION : There is provided the metal component collection agent which is used for collecting the metal components from the material containing the metal component, the agent containing, as an active ingredient, a compound containing group 2 elements of the periodic table or a compound containing lanthanoid elements. There is also provided the method for collecting the metal component from the material containing the metal component, the method including heating the collection agent and the material containing the metal component in a state that metal vapor or the metal oxide vapor produced when heating the material containing the metal component is brought into contact with the metal component collection agent.
